Is your jewellery covered?

In order to get full cover for expensive jewellery like a wedding ring or engagement ring, this will need to be specified under the All Risks cover of your personal policy. If the jewelry has not been specified, and in the event that there is a break-in at your property, then the Insurer will pay for the replacement of the jewelry under the contents claim. However, up to a certain limit is stipulated by the Insurer and the claimant may not enjoy full cover. Please note that this cover applies if there is a violent and forcible entry into your property and not when lost.

If your jewelry is worth more than R 10 000/ R 20 000 then it is also a condition that the jewellery be kept in a locked safe if it is not worn.
