How Will Capital Legacy help you?

In the spirit of Spring day this September, turn to making positive changes in your life. It is time for you to do a little administrative “Spring cleaning” that you might have been putting off. Not only is it a great time to review your insurance policies but, since September is the month of Wills, it is the perfect opportunity for you to write a Will or update your existing one. Writing a Will is something we all know that we SHOULD do but it is something that we rarely ever get around to actually doing, probably because we don’t really want to be dwelling too much on death. But then again WHO DOES? Until we find the elixir of youth, we can no longer be ostriches with our heads in the sand especially since there can be severe consequences of kicking the bucket with no Will in place. For example, did you know that, in the event that you do “checkout” with no Will in place, your loved ones may not benefit in the way that you, or they would have hoped, which could also cause some nasty conflicts. Given that it is a no-brainer to make a Will, here are a few more things you should consider for when you do:

  • Nominate Guardians for your minor children (under the age of 18) who understand your value system. Be careful who you appoint!

  • Set up a Testamentary Trust for your beneficiaries, which will manage their inheritance as if you yourself where managing it

  • Select your Executors and Trustees, which will give you peace of mind knowing that you have nominated competent individuals or companies.

  • Don’t try to skimp and go the DIY route. Make sure you get an attorney to draft your will as they have the knowledge and expertise to ensure that it is valid and complies with your wishes.

Sound like a lot to take on? We understand that putting a valid Will together is a daunting prospect. Fret not! Capital Legacy will do all the heavy lifting at no cost! They will meet with you at a time and place convenient for you, be that during or after office hours, to draft your tailor-made Last Will and Testament. Once your Will has been drafted, they will keep it in safe custody, ensure easy recall and updates, and arrange for the collection of your printed and signed Will. As if this wasn’t reason enough, for every Will collected using the Free Will Collection Service in Wills month, Capital Legacy will donate R25 towards the Dempsey Foundation!

In the end (that being said with tongue shamelessly in cheek!) by putting a valid Will in place or even updating an existing one will not only protect your assets but, more importantly, safeguard the future of the those who are nearest and dearest to you. Spring clean your insurance
